Yay for taxes! I guess a lot of people don't say that? And the only reason we can say it is because we don't make any money during the year, but... at least something good comes out of that, right?!
So, yes- we are getting a big refund. And that's still without touching our adoption tax credit. We have to continue rolling it over once again, because we don't make any money, and supposedly that means we don't need to use it yet. You would think they would just look at our total income and divide it by the number of people living in this house and see that we DEFINITELY DO need that! Plus, isn't the point of that so that we can pay for the twins adoption?! And hello?! We still can't do that!! We were hoping we would be able to use this year's refund to at least pay off half of what we still owe on their adoption and then with next year's refund have it paid off! See... we had a plan! I like plans! But since Nathan was without a job for three months, and we had to survive on a credit card for those three months (for the first time EVER), we are going to have to use at least part of our refund for that credit card, part towards the adoption, and part to survive the next four months until he leaves to go overseas.
But oh, wouldn't it be nice to just take a big fat vacation!??! Of course, if we could afford to do that with the money then we probably wouldn't have gotten it in the first place huh?
That also means it's back to the fundraising drawing board to finish paying off the twins' adoption. I am still getting organized for the yard sale- but much closer- and since things are starting to warm up (yay!), hopefully we can do that soon. We have been talking about it for so long, we are going to have to get everybody pumped up again so we can do as well as possible! These babies have been home for almost two years!!! I realize we had a whole week and a half to prepare for them, but we were too busy figuring out how we were going to pay for a house to figure out how we were going to actually pay for the adoption! We hadn't had time to implement our fundraisers for ONE baby, much less TWO! =)
So... bring on the spring! Clean out your closets! Let us know if you have any gently used "junk" we can take off your hands (again! ha.), anything fabulous you'd like to bake for our sale, or any other ideas you have! We'll be glad to get rid of it for ya on behalf of our beautiful babies!!

OH...and it's absurd they won't allow you guys to use your tax credit...what kind of bologna is that? THAT'S TO PAY FOR THE ADOPTION!!! maybe next year. =(
wish I was there to help. good luck with the sale! I'll tell my mom and aunts about it when it comes time. they're always up for a good yard sale. don't forget about craigslist.
i would be happy to make these really yummy peanut butter/chocolate bars (that keep well). i could probably give you some jewelry to sell, too. Let me know if i can help. i'm not too far away.
YES, definitely advertise on craigslist. We did and got tons of donations from complete strangers. We told people that if they donated items, they got to come shop the presale. You would be amazed at how much stuff we had donated. We raised $6500 in two days! It totally rocked!
