My kids really don't want that much tv. I promise they don't, not at our house. Layla gets about an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon (during cold months). Since she can't read quite yet, I give her options and she chooses fairly wisely. In general, she actually prefers a show where she knows she'll learn something like WordWorld, Little Einsteins, etc. with the occasional entertainment thrown in (Imagination Movers).
The twins could pretty much care less about television. And there have been times where I have actually tried to get them to sit down and watch with her because I really needed them to be still for just a second, for one reason or another. Not interested. There have been the occasional moments, when a more toddler-based show has come on immediately following one of L's pre-school shows that has held their attention for maybe a minute or two, but that's about it.
I say all this to then ask you why... why... why do my toddlers refuse to watch colorful, singing mosters dancing joyfully who were specifically and scientifically designed to hold their attention,
BUT
... both of my two-year-olds can sing and do the motions (and bits and pieces of choreography!) of the "Five Dollar Footlong" Subway commercials?!!?
I mean, c'mon! These kids still get green mixed up with blue, but they can throw in "Any footlong!" at exactly the right time. There is something wrong here. Or something right. Apparently, those subway people need to be teaching preschool!
