Extracurriculars.

Last year, we missed cheerleading sign-ups and LP was disappointed.

This was the conversation tonight on the way home, all of which occured in about 98 seconds- literally:

Me: L, cheerleading sign-ups are Saturday. Do you still want to cheer or would you like to continue dance?

LP: Hmmm.... I'm not sure. Can I think about it?

Sass: I want to do cheerleading! And I want to go to dance with L! and I want to go to dance by myself! I'm a cheerleader and a dancer!

L: I though Sass & Buddy were going to play t-ball?

Buddy: I am being a baseball player but NOT with Sass.

Sass: Buddy, you are NOT the boss and you cannot tell me where to play baseball and I can play baseball with you if I want to except I'm a cheerleader and dancing by myself!

Me: Sass and Buddy, you are playing baseball, together, on the same team because you are the same age and you both asked to play. But that starts next week. If you would like to do something else in the fall, we can talk about that. Sass, do you want to cheer OR dance? Pick one.

Sass: DANCE!

Buddy: What about me?

Me: Buddy, would you like to dance? (They have a kinderdance class that's just about movement and rhythm, a little gymnastics, etc.)

Buddy: No, I want to do something else.

Me: Okay, what would you like to do?

Buddy: I want to be Optimus Prime.

Me: Buddy, they don't have classes for Optimus Prime.

Buddy: I don't need a class. I am Optimus Prime.

Me: OK. Is there anything else you would like to do? A class you want to take or a team you want to try?

Buddy: Yes ma'am. I want to be Spiderman.

Me: Ok, well, you are Spiderman. Six days a week.

LP: Can I still do tap if I cheer? Are you and Sass and Buddy still going to do fun things without me if I go to dance?

Me: You can either do dance or cheer. Not both right now. Sass wants to go to dance with you, which just leaves Buddy. Daddy will be home by then so he won't have to be entertained. Only one of us will bring you girls to dance. You won't miss anything.

Buddy: I want to be a basketball boy.

LP: I'm still thinking.
