Camp Allen!

LP and I spent a week at Camp Allen in Missouri just before my surgery.
I'll be honest: the timing wasn't great. I had SO much to do, my car wasn't working, I had no idea what to expect, and I drove the four hours with a crabby attitude.

I WAS excited for LP to have her first camp experience, I just wasn't in the mood to take on 7 little girls as cabin mom and a classroom of 11 as teacher.

Boy, did God smack me in the face.

I tried really hard to let my daughter have her own camp experience separate from mine. That wasn't easy for me!

All the other kids got to make their own decisions and I wanted her to be able to do the same without her momma hovering over her. Apparently, her camp experience includes four bowls of Cinnamon Toast Crunch a day, soda at snack time, blue shorts with a pink shirt, and jumping on the stage when she wasn't supposed to. Her camp experience also includes making new friends, studying the Word, a precious talent show act, and getting SAVED!

(See my girl in the navy dress?)

Did you read that?! Our special little girl asked our Savior to live in her heart- FOREVER! We have been answering questions for her for about a year and a half, in no hurry for her to make her own decision. On the 2nd night of camp, the kids had the opportunity to write their questions/prayer requests down and leave them on the cross. LP wrote something very special and came over to show me before putting it on the cross, then she asked two of the counselors to pray with her. I couldn't believe what I was watching. When did she grow up so much?! I honestly wasn't sure if she understood, but then she drew a picture of two cliffs. One labeled "Sin" and the other labeled "God". She drew a cross connecting the two and herself walking across it to the God side. WHO AM I to question what is in her heart?!

I don't care if I had seven little girls underneath me 24 hours a day. I don't care if I had a few tough kids in my class causing trouble every day. I don't care that I came home with severe whiplash in my neck and back and a broken kneecap (darn slide).

IT WAS WORTH IT.

The girls from Cabin 17! All sweet as can be!
