Layla's TV debut!

The kids and I were asked to be in a commercial for ICE! that filmed yesterday! It was a little last minute and we didn't have much time to prepare. I had NO IDEA what to expect and honestly, didn't expect a 10-hour day and wasn't prepared for that when I showed up. They had called ahead on Monday only to ask if we were available (yes), how many kids their were (three), was husband available (no), replacement husband would be cast (ok) and they would get back to me.... which they didn't, until an hour and a half before call-time. Which meant I had an HOUR to get all four of us ready to leave. Um...that never happens. Especially when I have to pack a bag of "extras" like hats, scarves, gloves, etc. to keep us all warm in the NINE degrees we would be working in! But it did, people! Believe it or not!

The kids were excited even though they had no clue what we were doing. They just wanted to see the "blue/red/yellow/green! ice" and Snoopy (the exhibit is Charlie Brown and the whole gang this year). But of course, we get there and they get impatient and clingy while I'm filling out paperwork and suddenly less cooperative. Brynn was going to be fine, she warms up to other people easily and would have gone to anyone. Cale was glued to me and wanted nothing to do with the cameras or anything else, well, except craft services, lol.

Brynn and Cale were more work than I could handle while actually working and basically there was no way they were going to make it all day (I should say, the ICE people were GREAT with them. Very understanding. But the twins were ultimately sent packing.) But Layla and I stayed on- our first time to ever work together! I also have to say, I was SO impressed with my little lady!! This business is a LOT of "hurry up and wait" and she did very well. 10 hours is a LONG work day for a 5-year-old and she was very patient. (We played a lot of I-spy!). And when she was working (again- NINE degree temps!), she was awesome. She had one little breakdown when they wanted to do a close-up and she was just TOO cold. But I couldn't blame her. We had been in there a while and it was getting painful. They gave her a lot of direction really quickly and were yelling "Action!" before I would ever have a chance to make sure she understood she knew what she was supposed to do and she would nail it! I was amazed by her.

We had a TON of fun.

Here are a few phone-pix we took between shots (and a sneak-peek at ICE!).

Hanging out in the breakroom...

This is awful, lol. Layla took it (not why it's awful, of course.) But it's the only one we have together.

The commercials will begin airing this weekend on all local Nashville channels! In some shots Layla has on a big white bow, in some she is wearing blue earmuffs, and in some she is wearing the red stocking cap :) Let me know if you see us!
