So last week we found out Nathan would be leaving this week to go back overseas. Once it was official, word got out quick. There wasn't much time to prep so he spent a week at the base running around like a chicken with his head cut off; we were doing the same at home to keep the adoption from getting delayed... it was nuts. Unbeknownst to me, he had recorded a video message that played at church on Sunday (he was at the base)- telling the church goodbye, asking for prayer and care for us. Our entire church, and I mean everyone, came to the altar to pray over the kids and I. Tears all around.
On Monday, we found out he wasn't going afterall. Again, word spread like wildfire. Like Jen said, "Who knew when we prayed for a shield of protection, this would be our answer?!". Not I.
We are still in shock, I think. Obviously, we don't want him in harm's way or to be apart from one another. But knowing that our family could benefit from the deployment (in several ways) had gotten us a hopeful. We are in kind of a "Now what?" phase. There is obviously a reason he wasn't supposed to go. We don't know what the future holds, but we will trust Him faithfully- and it will be GREAT!

School days!
Back to school for two of my littles!
(Registration Day)
C started at his new school with a new teacher and has been pretty anxious about it. So far, days 1 and 3 have been kicking/screaming/bolting drop-offs. He participates about half of the time, but he has made a new friend already! Before he started he made it clear he did NOT want girls in his class and he would NOT be friends with a girl- that didn't last long :) He doesn't know her name and he won't play with her, but he's pretty sure he likes her! Already, I am finding out how little time there is between 8:30 and 11:30 when I go to pick him up.
LP is, of course, loving 2nd grade and her new teacher. I let her buy her own head-to-toe outfit for her first day and she looked adorable. We had a little excitement while everyone was brushing their teeth the first morning... apparently, C was swinging his arm with a toy inhand and popped his sister in the mouth. About 20 seconds later, her tooth fell out. It was loose beforehand, but nowhere near coming out. I guess he hit just right! She was laughing and obviously fine, he was apologizing repeatedly... pretty comical overall.
I think it's going to be a great year!
And the this little cutie is, as she says, "homeschooled". Meaning she stays with me and we do some learnin' at home.
If Nathan changes jobs, we will find a Mother's Day Out for her so she gets some more organized education and social experience :)

Talent show :)
This makes me smile SO much. They were adorable. Madison is reading a story that we wrote about animal friends that meet at Camp Allen. Lu is providing the sound effects.
The kids cracked up and the adults LOVED it. The girls accidentally left their "script" in the chapel and one of the camp directors had them both sign and date it so she could keep it lol.
