ASD diet?

Ok, parents... I need some tips/suggestions/ideas/help.

C has recently (last couple of weeks) started regressing in a very obvious, very aggressive way. We have no idea what triggered it, but it.is.ROUGH. It's just frustrating because he had been doing soooo well the last few months. He had definitely made some big steps, and now we are just trying to get through the day.

We will probably have our first assessment appointment (for the study) at Vandy in the next week or so, but until I can talk to the "professionals", I'd like to hear from the ones who live it everyday like we do!

Talk to me about your child's diet...
No gluten? No red dye? No dairy?
It's all so overwhelming.

We have no diet restrictions right now, and since he has basically been eating the same things for three years, I seriously doubt that's what triggered this new/old behavior. But if we can make some changes that will help, even a little bit, we're willing.

I'll continue to research (when he's at school or asleep!), but what do you have to offer?

My nephew gets a measured dose of CAFFEINE every day, and also eats a gluten-free diet. I thought the caffeine was a strange addition to his diet and therapies, but it seems to work for whatever reason.
